Lambent Chair by Glen Lewis Steele

Inspired by a giraffe toy from artist Glen Lewis Steele’s childhood, the long-necked Lambent Chair offers a lamp and a seat in one seriously Seussian design. A braided cord supports both the two-legged chair and the crescent-shaped lamp. When someone sits in the chair, the springs inside the cord compress and bend the light overhead; when someone stands up from the chair, the springs expand and the light returns to its upright position. The Lambent Chair is made to last, with a frame of New Zealand beech wood, a cord of Techflex and silica, and an LED lamp that won’t need to be replaced for years to come. Simplifying home lighting with a daringly simple twelve-piece design, the Lambent Chair shouts, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
