Lapka iPhone Sensors

View all 6 Photos

Science meets Portlandia with Lapka Electronics’ new iPhone sensors that measure, of all things, environmental radiation. To discover just how organic your food is, or just how safe your home’s radiation levels are (seriously), plug in the sensors via the headphone jack to see easy-to-read measurements on your phone’s screen. The sensors aren’t all business, though: each has a unique design and is made of grainy wood and ivory plastic. Creative director Vadik Marmeladov describes the sensors as “based on Apple’s philosophy and mood.” The final product (these sensors are still prototypes) should be released in December at $220. In the future, look for Lapka’s other iPhone-friendly utilities like allergen sensors and fitness trackers.
