Detroit-based photographer Dennis Maitland does a 180 on how one perceives the views of a skyscraper in his intrepid photo series called “Life on the Edge.” To get these photos, he grabs his camera, climbs to the highest points in his hometown, sits on the ledge while dangling his legs dangerously over the edge and takes a picture of the city down below. In an attempt to overcome his fear of heights, Maitland excels in twisting the ordinary perception of the city streets into something unique and exhilarating. Warning: Don’t try this at home.
