To borrow the words of Philip Johnson, LM Guest House has “very expensive wallpaper.” The views and construction of LM Guest House, designed by Desai Chia Architecture, bears many similarities to Johnson’s Glass House and uses the same principles of transparency – and opacity – to define and create space. Located on a farm property in upstate New York, LM Guest House’s all glass façade was prefabricated, and then erected within the span of two days. Wooden panels within the house serve as dividers of space, and offer some sense of privacy when the view gets too burdensome.
