LO-LO: A Bird-Inspired Microkitchen

LO-LO is a conceptual office microkitchen by Russian designers Tanya Repina and Misha Repin. The design is divided into a pair or trio of freestanding capsules, which are more like pieces of furniture than traditional kitchen cabinets. Mobile and versatile, the units can be arranged throughout a room or office just as desired. Each capsule provides room for an appliance, pantry items, and serving ware, holding just about everything one expects from an office kitchenette. There are drawers and pegboard walls to make storage as convenient and attractive as possible. Furthermore, the playful design helps cheer up employees on their lunch and coffee breaks. Made in the image of cartoon birds, the design transforms the workplace into an anime aviary. The facade is painted with eyes and a beak, the sides are decorated with finishes ranging from dark wood veneer to bright yellow, and the legs are forked like a songbird’s feet. Altogether, the youthful design looks to energize and inspire.
