Born in 1950, Marie-Paule Nègre is a French photographer with global sensibility. Her work, most recently showcased in the French-language retrospective MPN: Marie-Paule Nègre Photographies, explores a world of different issues and visual questions. Published by Terre Bleue Editions, the 268-page book collects Nègre’s artwork in eleven thematic chapters, ranging from “Solar” experiments to images of “Women in Resistance.” The collection includes both color and black and white shots documenting class, family, women, and artists’ lifestyles as well as delving into ideas of portraiture, movement, and abstraction. With writing by journalist and author Magali Jauffret, the book offers a close look into Marie-Paule Nègre’s artwork.
