Los Alamos Series By William Eggleston

If you love photography and art and if you also happen to be in Amsterdam in May or at the beginning of June, you definitely shouldn’t miss seeing William Eggleston’s spectacular Los Alamos exhibition. A pioneer of the artistic merits of color photography, this iconic photographer defied the art world in splashes of color, beginning his quest in the ‘60s. In 1976, his solo MoMA exhibition still raised eyebrows with its colorful photographs. Now here we are.

A love note to America, the Los Alamos series includes over 2200 images taken from 1966 to 1974 during a series of road trips across the country. The exhibition includes images from the artist’ hometown of Memphis, portraits of New Orleans and Las Vegas, with southern California ending the photographic road trip. Of course, Los Alamos also appears in this series. Visitors will be able to admire 75 dye-transfer prints created with Eggleston’s signature dye-transfer process which gives the photographs an incredible tonal range and color saturation. The photographer’s first ever color photograph is also on show. The exhibition runs until 7 June 2017 at the Foam Museum. Photo credits: Eggleston Trust.
