Lytro Illum Camera

Lytro, the Silicon Valley startup and first line of professional-quality, general-market light field cameras, recently unveiled their second product, the Lytro Illum. A new camera and software platform, the Illum captures multidimensional,  “living pictures” by seamlessly combining digital photography with interactive computer graphics manipulation. Illum pictures can be adjusted for focus, tilt, perspective, and depth of field at any time after the shots are taken, allowing photographers and viewers alike to immerse themselves in the many ways of seeing a single image.

The Illum boasts a 40-mega-ray light field sensor, an 8x optical zoom range, constant f/2.0 aperture across the entire zoom range, a high-speed shutter, macro capability, and integrated button and touch screen control. Compatible with tablets and computers, the new software synchronizes files across devices and works in conjunction with photo-editing programs such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture.

Pre-order the Illum today to save with the early-bird price of $1,499 and lock into bonuses such as an extended two-year warranty, access to an insider product support community, and the chance to receive an all-expense paid destination photo shoot. Customers who pre-order will be invited to submit original photo series to the Ultimate Lytro Photo Experience contest, and a lucky winner will be chosen to travel and study light field photography alongside a prominent artist.
