Maderística

Passionate about traditional woodworking, architecture and design, the Maderística studio produces beautiful pieces of furniture that display expert craftsmanship and distinct creativity. Founded in 2012 in Santiago, Chile by Patricio Ortega and Francisca Araya, the studio aims to redefine classic carpentry by enhancing it with modern design and architecture elements. All of the furniture products produced by Maderística are created and handcrafted by the team in the studio’s workshop; each piece of wood is lovingly transformed into a functional object full of charisma and contemporary style. Made with a distinct aesthetic and plenty of character, the furniture items feature clean lines, asymmetrical elements, and a blend of playfulness and creativity. The products are created for the modern home, offering functionality and flexibility at the same time. Elegant sculptural pieces are joined by simple designs or modernized silhouettes of the past, with smooth or textured finishes accentuating the organic grain patterns of the light pine plywood board. But regardless if it is a geometrical shelf structure, a modern desk, or a minimalist table, a passion for traditional woodworking stands at the heart of everything the studio creates, lending each design the distinct aura of a product made by craftsmen who simply love their craft.
