Manual Coffeemaker No1

Manual Coffeemaker No1 is a pour-over coffeemaker that combines the state-of-the-art with a return to ancient technologies.
Chicago designer Craighton Berman has rethought the countertop appliance with this elegant coffeemaker that celebrates the ritual of coffee brewing by hand. Berman was inspired by the traditions of manual coffeemakers, but redesigned the experience for today’s craft coffee drinkers.

Manual (or “pour over”) coffee making gives the user the maximum amount of control over the process, helping to capture the nuances of flavor in modern high-quality blends. The Manual Coffeemaker No1 is designed to have a slower extraction speed that allows the coffee grinds and hot water to remain in contact for a longer period of time, brewing a single, perfect cup of coffee at a time.
As an object, the Manual Coffeemaker No1 is as beautiful as it is functional. The sculptural glass shape reduces heat loss and maintains visibility, and is a striking form whether clear and idle, or when it has become ghostly from the steam of the brewing process. The bamboo base will gain a patina over time, like a wooden cutting board. The included carafe measures brewed coffee in mL for precision brewing, or the carafe can be replaced by any standard-sized coffee mug to brew directly into your own cup.
An industrial designer, visual thinker, and coffee lover, Berman launched the coffeemaker with a successful Kickstarter in April of 2014, and the product is now available to the public for purchase. Lovers of craft coffee and elegant design finally have the pour-over coffeemaker of their dreams. Buy here
