Mas La Riba House by Ferran Lopez Roca

The House Mas La Riba is an old stone house located on the hills of the country side near Vilallonga de Ter, Girona, Spain. The project by Ferran Lopez Roca Architects transformed the old stone building and its adjacent stable into a contemporary family house. The exterior walls made of dry stone and mud have been preserved completely in order to respect the original austerity and look of the ancient building but an extra layer of insulation has been added in the interior in order to improve the energy efficiency of the house. In one of the bodies on the ground floor is located the living area, which includes kitchen, living room, dining room and two bathrooms with spectacular elevations. The remaining part has been utilized for the sleeping area with two bedrooms and a bathroom. On the first floor the design has been enriched with a series of loft rooms housing the master bedroom with a bathroom and two large rooms.
