Former aircraft engineer and mechanical designer Andrew Sanderson of Modern Fuel Design launched his first product in 2015, on Kickstarter. With an initial goal of $4,000, the campaign ended with a total of $138,000. The second version of the design reached total of over $200,000. Celebrated minimalist architect John Pawson said this about the 2.0 pencil: “…there is pleasure in contemplating an object that must clearly contain many intricate parts, but appears as a single piece of milled metal.”

As it has become the norm with Modern Fuel Design product launches, the latest addition to the series made waves with a successful debut. Indeed, the crowdfunding campaign reached its goal in under 10 minutes. The American-made pen is expertly machined from a single piece of solid metal, providing superior durability and strength. Featuring a custom self-lubricated bronze mechanism that also has its own spring, the top clicks smoothly. The balanced design ensures more comfort and a ‘just right’ feel in the hand. The pressurized Fisher Space refill guarantees the ink’s smooth flow while writing or drawing. For more convenience, this Modern Fuel pen is compatible with a wide range of Parker type G2 refills.
