Mobi represents an exciting new chapter in lighting and in the work of noted designer James Dieter.
Dieter founded dform in 2001 to explore flat sheet materials, refining them into textural and sculptural forms. The work of dform has focused on creating three dimensional patters and shadows out of these flat materials, making innovative lighting and screens for lovers of contemporary design.
Now Dieter has launched a new studio to focus on exploring simple linked geometric forms. The flagship product of James Dieter Studio is Mobi, a unique customizable lamp.

For those familiar with the work of dform, Mobi is an exciting foray into even more streamlined, minimal design. Mobi comes with a cut sheet, showing the many configuration possibilities of the lamp. It can be spread large or compacted small, and in each configuration casts unique shadow patterns and reveals new ways of illuminating and perceiving the surrounding space.
The Mobi suspension lamp is available in anodized aluminum or powdered brass finishes, and can be easily reconfigured without tools. It is powered by 8 9w LED lamps. The lamp is a mobile of light, and a promising launch for an intriguing new studio.
