Mountainside Home with Rain Shelter

This Y+M Design Office Co. home stands beneath Mt. Daisen in Yonago, Japan. To protect against heavy rain and snow, the mountainside design features an oversized roof. Underneath the roof, there are two separate volumes, divided for privacy. The two spaces are split so that the clients’ extended family and children can live “under the same roof” without overcrowding.
