New Approach lies at the intersection of art and architecture, creating a playful conversation between user experience, light, and space. Jorge Serrano Penadés combines simple elements in construction to create an illusion of complexity. A series of four hexagonal wooden frames are arranged and angled in a fan-shaped spread, their common point of tangency literally and metaphorically illuminated by a bright strip of light. Only when the sculpture is viewed in the round can the individual glean the composition of the volume, the inhabited space, and the interplay of shadows as cast by the frame. The sculptural piece encourages interaction by walking around or through the structure, or experimenting with the fall of light and shadow.
