As Atelier d’Amis’ first collection, Laisse Béton marks the brand’s entrance into the world of furniture and design in style. Designed by Sébastien Léon and Valérie Pasquiou, this collection takes inspiration from NYC and its endless turmoil of construction sites. The duo skillfully translated the vocabulary of construction into refined, even artistic volumes. As a result, the products blend industrial style and sophisticated design with a minimalist aesthetic and a range of premium, urban materials.
“There is a certain beauty and unity in the architectural skeleton of construction which offers a stacked X-ray of structural elements, floor after floor,” says Sébastien Léon. Valérie Pasquiou adds that “concrete is the raw material of New York by excellence, which I felt should be glorified by bringing it to the world of fine furniture.” The furniture reimagines rebars as legs while transforming grids into tables and pinion elevators into wardrobes. Ultra-thin but tough ceramic plates boast a concrete finish. Brass plated tubular steel add a sculptural accent to the designs while also accentuating their industrial style. And the result?
