OneGround, a young footwear brand, is offering direct-to-consumer leather sneakers on Kickstarter until Monday, October 20, 2014. Their first collection includes The Edgar, a low-top; the Maya, a chukka; and the Walt, a slip-on. Available in beige, blue, or black colorways, the unisex designs feature a full-grain calfskin leather upper, a rubber sole, and a suede liner. Going for $99 on Kickstarter, the casual kicks are priced lower than designer options. Affordability, while noteworthy, is not OneGround’s only selling point, however. The small company crafts their shoes by hand at a family-owned, 50-year-old shoe factory in Istanbul, Turkey. Their small operation allows them to move more quickly than established designers, and they can release new collections as frequently as every 60 days.  This means that customers can expect a new wave of high quality, responsibly manufactured shoes every two months, about twice in one season for double the style.
