Patrick Wilson At The Ameringer | McEnery | Yohe Gallery, NYC

If you love art and happen to be in NYC this April/May, you should definitely drop by the new Patrick Wilson exhibition at Ameringer | McEnery | Yohe. Wilson’s third solo exhibition at this gallery offers a great opportunity to discover the latest work created by the LA-based artist. Colorful and dynamic, the paintings feature rectangular planes and squares that seem almost carved onto the surface of the canvas in monochrome tones, complementing colors or muted shades.

The flawless finish gives the artworks the appearance of plastic sheets, but on closer inspection viewers discover layers of paint carefully applied on the surface. The long process includes the use of a drywall blade and tape, with the resulting pieces boasting smooth layers brought together in orchestrated but organic compositions. Looking naturally effortless, the painting engage the viewer with their colorful rhythm and intriguing patterns. The Patrick Wilson exhibition runs from 27 April until 26 May 2017.
