Photographs of Australia by Ériver Hijano

The Brazilian-born photographer Ériver Hijano spent a year in Australia before settling in his current location, Germany. It was in Australia that he shot this series documenting the 2014 Dry Lake Races. Striking out of Melbourne to explore the outback, Hijano was drawn to the spirit of desert racing. At the event, he recognized the surreal aspect of seeing the bright colors of the men and machinery contrasts against the background of white desert sand. In the resulting pictures, the terrain looks imagined, and the cars and their drivers look like something from a sci-fi movie. But, it is all part of the real effects sunlight and human enthusiasm for technology and sports.
