Located on a hundred-acre farm in Port Hope, Ontario, this Canadian home was designed by Teeple Architects. The contemporary design makes use of a variety of materials including charcoal zinc, wood, glass, and concrete. A complement to the ground source heating, many of these components provide natural insulation for the spacious rooms. Additionally, the floor-to-ceiling windows, courtyards, and clerestories bring natural lighting into the space, making it as energy-efficient as possible while connecting the residence to the outdoors.
