Porto Salvo 5 by David Perri

View all 21 Photos

A survivor of the 1908 earthquake in Messina, Sicily, Italy, the Porto Salvo 5 still brims with historical elegance through it’s ability to salvage its exceptional components. Architect David Perri preserved its handmade concrete floor tiles, structural braces, the wooden truss roof and the marble stairs. A beautiful long staircase cascades up from the ground floor to the next. For new built in skylights allow light to flood into the interior through a tall wooden roof. The main living area has extra height and contains the entrance, the living and dining area, a partially hidden kitchen and the studio gallery that can also serve as a guest room. Entrance to a spacious terrace is possible through the kitchen and living area. The master bedroom exists on two floors and has a big walk-in-closet with an open bathroom while another large bedroom on the second floor loft overlooks the kitchen.
