Ressence Type 5 Dive Watch

Oil and water. Everyone knows the two don’t mix. However, Rressence has engineered a way for the two liquids to work in tandem, and you can wear it on your wrist. With precision assembly, Ressence has developed the first mechanical watch that can be accurately read from any angle, altitude, and even underwater. The Ressence watch TYPE 5 is a diving watch with an oil filled display. The oil inside the display counteracts the pressure water has on the watch when it is submerged. To ensure total and accurate legibility, Ressence has submerged not only the dial, but 142 of the watches 324 total components in 37.5ml of oil. This means that when the watch, and the wearer, are underwater, the oil counteracts the natural glare of the water, which is also known as Total Internal Reflection. The results are a clear reading of the watch face, and Ressence as a clear frontrunner for the new mechanics of watches.
