London designer Merve Kahraman’s wax-lamp, “The Revitalizer,” transforms a typically stuffy utility into a dynamic piece of art. A high voltage light bulb gradually melts the wax shade; and the shade drips into a receiving container, taking interesting, ever-shifting forms as the process occurs. A heat resistant core helps to re-set the wax, which can be removed and reused in the shape of a shade. Kahraman describes the cycle as reminiscent of “growing-old, dying and rebirth.”
