Roll Nets by Tom Chung

Drawing inspiration from the makeshift goal posts and driveway chalk sidelines of sweet childhood memories, Vancouver-based designer Tom Chung creates a more refined take on these sweet childhood memories. Roll Nets is the newest addition to a series of titled “Game On!” that features fun and fresh renditions on traditional sports equipment such as a shot-clock and a locker room (though it is not so much a noisy, crowded room as it is an elegant interior decoration). The name “Nets” is cleverly deceiving, but the intention is clear; though the product is actually a set of four wooden field markers – split into pairs with matching string identifiers – without the existence of a physical net, the functionality is present. The markers, tipped at the end with metal for strong anchorage, are wonderfully mobile, each fitting snugly in a sleeve that rolls up and ties for easy transport. The carry-away sleeve is brightly colored in sapphire blues, olive greens, and tangerines mimic the rainbow of uniforms at sporting events for an extra dose of excitement and competitive spirit.
