Safari in the Polar Desert by Classe Touriste

While most of us may have spent the middle of December huddled near warm fireplaces and under cozy blankets, the adventurers of Class Touriste were out braving the cold… in the Arctic! Debbie Pappyn and Davide de Vleeschauwer took a six-day trip to spend their time, literally, on the Arctic Sea, and their stunning photographs document the audacious journey. The photographs feature a contrast between the vastness of what nature has created – towering glaciers, icy plains that blend into the white sky’s horizon – and the human presence. The village of bright orange tents is nothing compared to the snowy formations, and even the trail left by resident polar bears dwarfs the human equivalent. Classe Touriste makes it look easy to travel to Baffin Island and share the lifestyle of the local Inuits… but don’t let the photographs fool you! It really is cold up there.
