When he’s not creating colorful images and visuals for renowned brands, New York-based 3D artist and designer Ben Fearnley tells stories with his digital illustrations and CGI imagery. And what better way to tell a modern story than with the helpful aides of digital communication? Fun and creative, the Sculptmojis series provides a playful twist on traditional sculpture. Emojis become artworks to give a new meaning to a serious medium. Thus, the universal language of the emojis meets the universal appeal of classic art. At the same time, the images encourages the viewer to think about various concepts; from the relationship between old and modern to the way we relate to the simple representations of powerful emotions. All wrapped up in humorous compositions.

Some images have a clear narrative, such as the group of statues ‘reacting’ at the sight of a smashed smartphone, while others reference classic sculptures. The series also challenges perception by blurring the line between traditional medium and the digital one.
