Sculpted Wooden Cup by Jorge Diego Etienne

Burr!  The sting of winter has found us buried in layers, walking block after block a bit stiffer than usual. To keep moving forward I fill my head with daydreams of a warm cup of coffee, tea, ooh or maybe hot chocolate this time.
The Segundo Objeto is a take on Japanese design with minimal details and natural elements. The ceramic cup keeps drinks at their perfectly hot temperature while held snugly in place by the wooden cover which disperses the heat.  They will age in harmonious beauty as their organic elements surrender to daily use. The creator Jorge Diego Etienne, a contributor at Inhabitat, facilitates all production for his work out of Monterrey, Mexico keeping things local and focusing on sustainability.
The artist explains the simple design that highlights winter, “The sculpted wooden cup eliminates the need for a handle creating an even more intimate experience from the temperature, smells and sensations of the season.”
