Sledge-Project by Rob Sweere

On a quest across Greenland’s Uummannaq Island these Nomadic Sled Habitats provide a bubble of insulated shelter from the harsh icy air. Using draft animals hooked up to a sled, two skis on the bottom drag them from destination to destination. Their futuristic white case is prominent against the desolate landscape. In smallish quarters up to six visitors can congregate around the table nook, views of the outdoors still visible by curious circular windows. A production team partnered with inuit hunters when writing the vision, and later brought it to reality by the cooperation of the Uummannaq polar institute, Ann Andreassen, René Kristensen of Denmark and the Children Home Uummannaq.
