Space-Efficient Furniture by Silje Nesdel

Even the tiniest of apartments and houses can be fully furnished with the right pieces. This collection of furniture and decor by the Norwegian designer Silje Nesdal could do just the trick. Recently presented at the 2015 Stockholm Furniture Fair, the designs include a sofa bed, a shelving system, and bookends.

Called “Dorme,” (Italian for sleep) the sofa bed is styled so that it looks more like classic Nordic furniture from the 1950s and 1960s than a common futon. The strong design has a clean, modern shape. Crafted from ash wood and reversible Kvadrat fabric, the sofa bed is quality-made as well.

The “Linkk” storage system, on the other hand, draws inspiration from Finnish log houses and Japanese bamboo scaffolding. Airy and light, the frame is made of birch wood and the shelves and buckets are aluminum, powder-coated for a smooth finish. Each piece fits together using pegs and slots, so the design can be reconfigured to meet future needs.

Last but not least, the hefty bookends are crafted from granite. The nice and weighty decor comes in triangle and cube shapes, making this a practical, geometric design.
