We are not new to the amazing work of Gregory Buntain and Ian Collings of Fort Standard. This time they want to share with us their last project, the “Sprue Candelabras”.
Standard “sprue” or “gating wax”, normally used to direct the flow of molten metal in investment casting was used to create the actual forms of these functional Bronze table sculptures. Striping the idea of casting down to a primitive level there remains a strong connection to the materiality of the wax and a rough look and feel to them due to minimal clean up after the casting.
