Switzerland Like You’ve Never Seen It Before

Born and raised in Grisons, Switzerland, Martina Bisaz has always been surrounded by picturesque landscapes. But it wasn’t until she saw an exhibition at her school that she became fascinated not only with drawing and illustration, but also with photography. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Scientific Visualization, she started working as a part-time illustrator for Zurich University, joining the archaeology department.

Currently, she divides her time between scientific illustration work and her freelance photography and illustration business. Her striking images have already won the approval of the Instagram generation and her personal page has close to 200k followers. This is an impressive number for someone who is not a celebrity, and it speaks volumes on this generation’s thirst for great photography that captures the fascinating beauty of nature. Simply glancing through her feed you quickly understand why this young and talented artist has amassed such a following.
Her photography is unique – these are not just images that chronicle the undeniable and breathtaking beauty of Switzerland; they are so much more than classic landscape photographs. One can describe them as paintings captured in an instance. In the majority of Martina’s images, nature is portrayed as monumental and almost overwhelming in its scale and beauty.
