Tasteful Swedish Furniture: The Vera Novis Collection

View all 7 Photos

The Vera Novis Furniture Collection is a range of tables, hangers, and a daybed designed and made in Sweden. Created by Hillevi Magnell of Smålands Skinnmanufaktu and Sara Rudenstam of Formbruket, the designs are locally sourced and produced.

The Swedish ash came from the forests and was naturally finished. The leather was vegetable tanned by the Tärnsjö Garveri, the world’s first and, for the time being, only certified-organic “house of leather.”
The small tables nest inside one another. Available with or without wheels, they can be used in a variety of spaces, from the kitchen to the bedroom. Some of the tables are made without leather, though the most striking example features a woven leather shelf.

Putting the same structure to new use, the daybed is made up of wooden legs and a woven leather seat. The leather is soft and slender yet strong, so it has a delicate profile but holds up to everyday life.
The hangers make use of both wood and leather. The wall-mounted hook features a leather strap for holding magazines, whereas the ceiling version is suspended by leather belts and hangs clothing by a wooden bar. All of the designs will soon be available from Smålands Skinnmanufaktu.
