The Amazing Staircase in Casa G

This stunning staircase is part of Casa G, an architecture project by the Italian studios Francesco Librizzi and Piergiorgio Italiano. Updating a historic seaside villa in Sicily, the new stairwell provides a contemporary escape to the timeless rooftop. The stairs are crafted from natural wood and affixed to a blackened metal frame made up of rectangles and triangles. The base is cut in a hexagonal shape, just like the tiles on the floor. Geometric in design, the addition echoes the attention to form seen in the original arched doorway and colorful flooring, while remaking the idea anew. At the top of the staircase, there’s a door opening up to the rooftop, where there’s a clear view of the waterfront and local architecture.
