Launched at the “Masterly – The Dutch in Milano” exhibition at the Salone del Mobile 2016, the EPIC Chair Family perfectly illustrates the innovative spirit of Dutch design. The collection is created by Marc Th. Van der Voorn and developed in collaboration with the Belgian company Z-Editions. Founded in 1923 and renowned for its wooden furniture designs, the company now works with talented designers to create modern and timeless piece of furniture for modern interiors. With the three EPIC chairs, Marc Th. Van der Voorn pushed the boundaries of classic furniture design to achieve a distinct shape that puts the backrest on center stage. This is the side which is visible most of the time, whether when the chairs are in use, when they are tucked under the dining room table or placed near a bar. The backrest divides the frame in two, dominating the chair’s silhouette, while elegant yet subtle curves soften the minimalist design and complement the angled legs. Assembled by Z-Editions craftsmen, the chairs are made from oak and can be painted in various colors or completed with an upholstered seat. They are designed to fit into a family dining room, a modern lounge, or stylish bar or cafe in equal measure. Photography by Dik Nicolai and Daan Verschuur. Images courtesy of Z-Editions and Marc Th. Van der Voorn.
