The Re-Ply by Dan Goldstein

View all 6 Photos

Corrugated cardboard is probably the base of the pyramid that represents the social hierarchy of materials. However, revolution is in the air, the effort spearheaded by designer Dan Goldstein. Taking a form somewhat similar to the Hardoy chair (also, “butterfly” chair), Re-Ply uses four layers of heavy-duty fiberboard. The tensile strength of these fibers is strong enough for the chair’s simple construction, which is finished off with a triangular steel based that allows gentle rocking for the sitter’s comfort. When all is said and done, the Re-Ply will be the last reply to the question of affordable, upcycled seating.
