The Roving Typist

This short film, made by Vimeo’s Mark Cersosimo, features another New York City artist, C.D. Hermelin, “The Roving Typist.” Hermelin is a short story writer who travels with a $10 typewriter, crafting spontaneous stories for strangers. Pushed outside by a roommate averse to clicking noise, Hermelin found that people on the street would stop and talk to him while he wrote. When he moved to New York, he began writing in parks and online on a pay-what-you-like basis. The “performance high” of writing without a backspace button and often in front of his audience drives him to write well within a short period of time.
