The Starman Vase By Diesel Living With Seletti

When two innovative brands meet and decide to collaborate, the result can only be incredible. But when they are also two of the most famous Italian brands with decades of revolutionary product designs behind them, one expects spectacular results. Diesel and Seletti, founded in 1978 and 1964 respectively, have joined forces to create some magic together under the name Diesel Living With Seletti. One of their projects is the Cosmic Diner Set, which has already received acclaim, winning the Wallpaper’s Design Award 2015. The set celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first steps taken by man on the surface of the moon and the standout piece is the Starman vase.

Made from quality porcelain, the gleaming white vase has the shape of an astronaut in full costume. The intricate details bring another level of realism to this piece which cleverly pays homage to an iconic moment in history, bringing its symbolism to the dinner table and offering a great conversation starter. The reflective visor adds an ingenious touch to the design, along with the backpack opening that allows for a flower or two to be placed inside, creating a surreal visual effect. Nature and exploration, two of the crucial aspects of humanity and our home among the stars are brought together in one product. Just as much an art piece as it is a functional item, the Starman vase blends creativity and function in a unique design that is simply hard to forget once admired. Images © Gessato.
