The Thruxton Café Racer gets a Modern Overhaul

The designers at Triumph have revived a modern classic with their announcement of the Thruxton and Thruxton R Café Racers. Dubbed “the ultimate factory café racer,” these bikes retain the style of their heyday with added features to bring them into the 21st century. The most exciting new feature of this line is the Thruxton 1200cc high power engine, which delivers a 120Nm torque figure at 4950 rpm, an impressive 62% more than the previous generation of the bike could. This is accomplished thanks to ride-by-wire fuel injection, advanced liquid cooling and other modern engine components that are all integrated seamlessly into a vintage-inspired design. Along with its powerful engine, the whole bike is detailed to bring riders a high quality product and exhilarating riding experience. Some of the highlights include a unique fuel tank that features a ‘Monza’ cap (a first on any modern production bike), a stylish bullet seat and the utilization of lightweight aluminum within the bike’s mirrors, wheel rims and swinging arm. Anti-lock brakes work with the ride-by-wire system to increase safety and responsiveness, while three Rider Modes (road, rain and sport) help users adapt to the conditions they are facing. The Thruxton R features additional perks at the highest of specifications, including twin floating Brembo disks, Brembo monobloc calipers, Showa Big piston forks, Öhlins rear suspension and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tires. All these esoteric details translate into a lavish product that offers riders greater control over their trip. The line stays true to the speed and versatility that have made café racers so popular since their introduction, and Triumph also offer over 160 parts to help owners customize the ride to their unique preferences. The only problem with the Thruxton and Thruxton R Café Racers may be the difficulty of trying to fit one of these underneath the Christmas tree.
