One SQM House, The World’s Smallest House

One Sqm Revolution (or One Square Meter Revolution) is a cause started by BMW Guggenheim Lab and Van Bo Le-Metnzel of Hartz IV Möbel, a Laos refugee.  The message is hinged on when Le-Metnzel wished that he could have just one square meter to call his home during those difficult years. Compact living in full gear, these homes are exactly one square meter. This half-pint home can be stood upright for seating position or laid down for reclining. The shape is simple, four walls and a one point roof. Made of lightweight materials, you could even carry it. Though the wheels provided make that awkward feat less cumbersome. The vision is to see entire villages of these pod homes tour around the word over the course of 6 years available for rent by students and travelers at Air BnB. This will bring awareness to the unfortunate who are tired of real estate being so out of reach and expensive. Hopefully, they can shine a light on the way society has pushed homes so far out of reach for those individuals trying so hard to make it.
