The Tubakuba (or Tuba Cube) Mountain Hub is a tiny mountainside cabin in Bergen, Norway. Inspired by its namesake musical instrument, the Opaform design features a tunnel entrance that resembles the bell of a tuba. The unique getaway is clad in larch wood with a charred, Shou Sugi Ban finish. For contrast, the entrance and interior are lined with plywood. Inside, the small space is outfitted with curved built-in seating, a ladder, and a wood-burning stove. A single large window reveals a sweeping view of the mountainside and city below.
But, don’t let the contemporary design fool you. This off-grid retreat offers a pretty rustic camping experience with no installed lighting and no toilet.
