Torreira House by NU.MA

Torreira House, though designed with the site in mind, creates a clear separation between interior space and the surrounding exterior. The residence that sits nestled near the bend of a small hill in Torreira, Portugal is a work from NU.MA, and leverages the formidable white of its façade to call out specific views of the outside. Within the house the floors are organized by function, and the rooms have outlooks perfectly framed by a black border, creating a natural art piece. The otherwise white unadorned walls and the rich tone of the wooden floor make every programmatic element its own private space, which is reflected by the variegated windows specific to each room.
