TRIO Oak Stool by Marcin Laskowski

If there’s one thing ingrained in my memory from my building structures class, it is the amount of times the professor emphasized the importance of degrees of freedom in calculating stability. The three-legged stool’s victory of the four-legged stool was his prime example, and instigator of a frequent diatribe against our wobbly studio stools (four-legged, of course). The power of three certainly stands out in Marcin Laskowski’s TRIO Oak Stool, which features three legs and also a triangular seat that highlights the joinery extended from the vertices of the seat’s form. A hole, three-sided as well, in the middle adds convenience and ease in moving the stool from place to place – perhaps from Melounge Studio to your home. The simplicity of the design and the details drawn from the natural grain of the oak is an elegant touch that supports its functionality and structurally sound design.
