Some bikes take you to work every morning. Others take you around the world. The Tumbleweed Prospector bike is part of the latter group and it’s unlike anything else on the market today. Designed for passionate, long-distance travelers and off-road riders after years of research and testing on the toughest terrains, Prospector is not only rugged and tough, but it’s also innovative and practical. The bicycle is the first production fat bike built with a standard bottom bracket and it is also compatible with existing standards, common mountain bike parts, various wheel combinations, and tire sizes of up to 4’’. This means that parts can be easily repaired or replaced anywhere around the world, making the Prospector the perfect bicycle to take on the kinds of trips one remembers for a lifetime.
Technical specs include a custom 73mm Phil Wood Electric Bottom Bracket that allows maximum tire and mud clearance, a 14 speed Rohloff hub, double butted and heat treated chromoly tubing, and front and rear derailleur compatibility. Comfortable to ride both on and off-road, this touring bicycle also features front and rear rack mounts as well as several water bottle mounts to provide generous storage space for longer adventures. The Tumbleweed Prospector is available in two colors: New Mexico Turquoise and Desert Sandglow; both can be pre-ordered on the official website as a frameset, frameset with the Rohloff Speedhub, or as a complete bike – prices start from $1,300.
