Vases and Tableware by Keiichi Tanaka

Slightly primitive, confidently modern, the work of Keiichi Tanaka of Japan moves us spiritually, meets us right where we are. He has successfully bridged the gap between hand made warmth and refined decor.  It is a forever challenge to find such a large collection of pleasantly unique pieces in one portfolio. Quite honestly, we have become hooked.

His work expresses itself through bends in the wood, stretched out handles, organic hue of the pottery, all characteristic of the great yoga mat. Centering ourselves through meditation and poise we find ourselves more in tune with nature, with the inner one. The crafted design in the wood vase series are just as centered featuring strong arches. Their willingness to produce life giving elements reflected in the peek-a-boo stem openings in unsuspecting placement. The bowls, mugs and plates in the tableware collection exhort the true essence of namaste. Their richness elevates our dining experience. Honoring us with their beauty, their simple state makes us feel refreshed and glad. Some are gently pressed with playful texture others stare in white, plain and barren.
