Villa Frenay by 70F Architecture

A house left alone along with a few outbuildings scattered around its borders is now a more connected residence that’s full of light, air and space. 70F Architecture designed this one-story bungalow on a plot in villa park ‘de Noordzoom’ in Lelystad, England. A veranda along the entire length of the southern side of the home contains the main rooms which includes the bedroom, wardrobe, a master bedroom, a hobby room, a kitchen, a dining room and a living room. As a dwelling that is “living at the water,” a transition from water to veranda is met to complete the enclosure of the glass façade. The roof above the living and dining room slopes just a bit to add a distinctive element to the flat landscape. Away from the waterfront of the house lies the children’s rooms along with their bathroom, a living room and a utility room. One of the fabricated hills of the site includes a carport with a storage room that’s half buried into the land. A sauna with a garden shed is placed on a hill where it stands tall as the highest of the three buildings. Views of a Corten steel waterfall that runs along the open-air terrace which slopes towards the water feature flowing along the site can be seen from the sauna. A unified transparency floats along the entirety of the residence bringing a sense of harmony to the simple transitions between being inside and out.
