Nestled somewhere in Immeln, Sweden, a one-of-a-kind hotel helps its guests to disconnect completely from modern living. We wrote about the Vipp Shelter back in 2015. Now we’re happy to announce that the beautifully designed contemporary structure has opened its doors to travelers. The exclusive hotel has only one bedroom, which means that guests can enjoy a private stay in the middle of the wilderness, away from the city and urban noise. “We craved birdsong and open skies. To get out of the city with all the necessities and nothing more. The shelter is the result of that dream. A pod of tranquility designed as a large-scale Vipp product,” explains Morten Bo Jensen, Vipp’s Chief Designer.
Inside the modern shelter, guests will find a minimalist and stylish décor in a monochrome palette. Everything comes from Vipp, including the kitchen and bathroom accessories as well as the furniture and lamps. The company perfectly describes the room as a “livable design object dropped down in nature”. The interior’s ultra-minimalist style along with the black and dark gray tones help to put the natural surroundings into focus, while the glazed walls connect the room to the woodland landscape and fill the space with light.
Apart from the windows that provide direct views of the Immeln lake, the shelter also features a glass ceiling in the bedroom for comfortable star gazing. Guests can prepare meals in the kitchen and enjoy them in the open-plan dining room with a wood-burning fireplace. Then they can relax in the lounge area with a glass of wine while admiring the sunset. With no TV and no WiFi, one can truly slow down here and live in the moment.
