Waldhaus by Atelier St

Simplicity that hides sophistication is the mark of true design. Built outside Leipzig by Atelier ST, this modest cabin in the woods belies its high architectural pedigree. With a restraint and subtle application of color the Waldhaus, as it is know, is both cozy and expansive. Blurring the lines between building and backyard, this house integrates so completely with it’s environment it seems to float like a specter in the trees.

As the firm explained: “In its outward form simple and modest appearance, it integrates. In the growth of nature and gives the impression it has always been there At the same time plays the outward appearance, with slightly cantilevered roof and dark wood façade, with the mythologies and tales of houses in the forest (Hansel and Gretel).”
