Recycling has made it from the washer to the ceiling light. Pulled out of the dark laundry room, once trapped in the workings of the machine these glistening drum lamps are free as birds in six pretty hues.Like a dream come true they now brighten your home in their pin holed bodies. This Finnish design of 90% recycled materials by Willem Heeffer was founded on these key principles: local materials, handmade products, and the reinvention of something completely disconnected from its past life. The artist explains his motivation, “when i work with old materials i take them out of context, use it in an unexpected way to create something new. the goal is to first see a beautiful product after which you discover the history behind it. only then the products are no longer viewed as trash and have become design pieces.”

Allison Parker is a proud stay at home mom maintaining a full schedule kissing boo boos and passing out hugs just because. Her days many times are spent between the garden and the kitchen. From a journey of learning whole food eating habits, she's taken on the challenges of baking bread, muffins and cakes from scratch and filling the cellar shelves with scores of her own canned goods each year. Writing is one of those things she does because its part of who she is. That and it's a nice break from the never ending work that comes with raising a family.
