Experience time naturally with Grovemade’s newest collection of wood dial watches. A leading designer of handcrafted timepieces with a focus on natural materials, Portland-based Grovemade broke ground in 2013 with their unique wooden porthole design. Their new Watch 02, crafted in collaboration with former Nike watch designer, Stefan Andrén, combines classic detailing with a refined natural aesthetic.
“This collection of watches is a culmination of a multi-year design effort, and the outcome is truly a representation of our expert craftsmanship combined with distinguished design,” says Ken Tomita, co-founder of Grovemade. “They are a clever inversion of our first watch design and what our team believes to be more conventional for everyday use, yet still unique enough to be considered a conversation piece.”
Each timepiece features a CNC-milled, three dimensional, wooden dial face inside of a stainless steel or 22 karat gold plated stainless steel case, a signature approach that showcases the unique grain patterns. The watch includes a Miyota 5Y26 quartz movement that is made in Japan, and vegetable-tanned leather straps. Grovemade assembles all the components at their 20-member Portland workshop.
The result is an expertly designed timepiece that emphasizes the natural beauty of wood. Grovemade’s continues to push the boundaries of watch design, utilizing their unique understanding of craftsmanship and material.
