Photojournalist Peter Menzel and writer-editor Faith D’Aluisio are a husband and wife team based in Napa, California. Together, they have published several books, including Hungry Planet, Material World: A Global Family Portrait, and, most recently, What I Eat: Around the World in 80 Diets. For What I Eat, they travelled to more than thirty countries over a span of three years, documenting the diversity of eating habits across nations, classes, and lifestyles. They photographed and profiled individuals, from farmers to computer technology workers, showing what each person might eat in a single day, quantifying the intake in terms of calories and body size, and qualifying it to illustrate how the food relates to both culture and profession.
